The UAE Ministry of Interior (MoI) has issued a warning to the public regarding fake social media accounts that impersonate car insurance companies and offer deceptive deals to lure unsuspecting victims into scams.

In a post on its official social media channels, the Ministry stated that fraudsters create fake accounts posing as insurance firms or agencies, advertising services at unrealistically low and tempting prices.

"Scammers create fake accounts and present themselves as car insurance companies and offices, promoting insurance services at unrealistically low and attractive prices," the Ministry stated. According to the MoI, the objective is to convince victims to make payments before receiving a valid insurance policy, only for them to later realize they have fallen victim to an online scam.

The Ministry of Interior urged the public to follow these precautionary measures:

Verify Licensing: Before making any payment, ensure that the insurance company or broker is officially licensed.

Use Verified Platforms: Purchase insurance only through approved digital platforms and licensed insurance companies or offices within the country.

Exercise Caution with "Too Good to Be True" Offers: Avoid engaging with unusual and highly attractive offers, deceptive advertisements, or misleading promotions.

The Ministry's warning is part of a broader effort to increase public awareness about online fraud, as scammers increasingly exploit social media platforms to target residents with fraudulent financial and insurance schemes.

Authorities have called on the public to immediately report such suspicious accounts or offers and to refrain from sharing personal or payment information with unverified sources.
