Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, has announced the official launch of "Jaywan," the country's first national payment card scheme.

Following the official launch, banks, financial institutions, and licensed exchange houses in the UAE have begun issuing Jaywan cards in phases, with the rollout set to expand over the coming months.

Jaywan cards will be accepted at point-of-sale terminals, online stores, ATMs, and digital wallets. The cards support contactless payments, e-commerce, cash withdrawals, and both domestic and international transactions.

Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed described the launch of the system as a strategic step to strengthen the UAE's sovereignty over its financial infrastructure, stating that the move will contribute to developing an advanced payment system, enhancing financial sector efficiency, and accelerating the country's digital transformation.

Jaywan cardholders will also be able to enjoy a range of benefits and special offers in sectors such as travel, shopping, hospitality, and lifestyle.

Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, stated that the launch of Jaywan marks a milestone in the development of the country's payment services, facilitating the expansion of digital payments, fostering financial innovation, and enhancing the customer experience.
