His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, announced on Tuesday the launch of the 29th edition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award; the world's largest award to honor memorizers of the Holy Quran.

In the previous edition of this global award, 5,618 men and women from 105 countries participated. This year, the total cash prizes for this competition reach an impressive $3.3 million. Registration has now begun through Quran.gov.ae.

Sheikh Mohammed, who is also the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, wrote in a post on X: "The word of God is light, guidance, and mercy. We have been honoring its memorizers for 29 years, and God willing, we will continue this path and journey." He also announced that this year's award winners will be honored in Ramadan 2027.

Three sections

These awards honor Quran memorizers in three sections:

First section: Dubai International Quran Award, men's section, 16 years and older, open age group

Second section: Dubai International Quran Award, men's and women's section, 16 years and younger

Third section: Global Quranic Personality

Conditions for participation in the first section

The participant must have memorized the Holy Quran completely and proficiently and must adhere to the rules of recitation and Tajweed.

Must be born on May 31, 2010, or after.

Must not have reached the final stages or been honored in previous editions of the competition.

Must wear the national dress of their country.

Must exhibit good behavior and adhere to the regulations and public etiquette of the United Arab Emirates.

First place: One million dollars

Second place: 100 thousand dollars

Third place: 50 thousand dollars

Conditions for participation in the second section

The participant must have memorized the Holy Quran completely and proficiently and must adhere to the rules of recitation and Tajweed.

The participant's age must not exceed 16 years and they must be born on June 1, 2010, or after.

The participant must not have reached the final stages or been honored in previous editions of the competition.

Must adhere to the schedule set for the examination.

Must exhibit good behavior and adhere to the regulations and public etiquette of the United Arab Emirates.

First place: One million dollars

Second place: 100 thousand dollars

Third place: 50 thousand dollars

Conditions for participation in the third section

The nominee must have played a prominent role in serving Islam and Muslims.

Must have an effective impact and a positive contribution to society.

Must have provided tangible scientific works characterized by originality and excellence.

Must be a role model worthy of following and have a prestigious status in the Islamic world.

The winner of this section receives a cash prize of one million dollars.
