The UAE Central Bank officially launched the national bank card scheme, Jaywan, on July 20, 2026. Managed by Al Etihad Payments, the initiative provides a local, secure, and cost-effective option for processing domestic transactions while ensuring financial data remains within the country. Jaywan cards are being issued in phases by licensed banks and financial institutions, supporting a full range of payment services including in-person purchases, online shopping, ATM withdrawals, and digital channels.

A key feature of Jaywan cards is the enhancement of international coverage through co-branded cards in partnership with the Visa network. This collaboration enables acceptance at over 150 million locations across 200 countries and territories, while domestic transactions continue to be processed through the national payment infrastructure.

Eligible cardholders have access to more than 150 special offers across various sectors, including travel, hotels, dining, shopping, entertainment, health, and beauty. The most extensive benefits are reserved for the higher tiers, namely the Prestige and Royal cards.

Travel and Hotel Services: Cardholders receive a continuous 7% discount on flight and hotel bookings via Trip.com, up to 10% off Air Arabia’s Ultimate rates, and exclusive benefits with Etihad Airways, including priority check-in and boarding, as well as access to Comfort and Deluxe rates.

Airport Services and Insurance: Royal cardholders gain access to over 1,800 airport lounges through Priority Pass and benefit from travel insurance provided by Sukoon for accidents and medical emergencies.

Support and Purchase Protection: The scheme offers purchase protection against specific risks and the option to extend product warranties beyond the original manufacturer's period.

Leisure and Lifestyle Discounts: Benefits include buy one, get one free ticket offers and a 20% discount on food and beverages at Reel Cinemas, access to various discounts through the Jaywan Entertainer network, and the opportunity for Royal cardholders to purchase a 12-month Careem+ subscription at a preferential rate of AED 149.
