Dr Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, praised Smith Machhar, an Indian flydubai pilot, for his actions during a serious terrorist attack that could have led to a major disaster.

Gargash wrote on his official X account: “Smith Machhar, the Indian flydubai pilot, deserves the highest recognition. Faced with a serious terrorist act and the prospect of catastrophe, he demonstrated courage and responsibility.”

He added: “His professionalism and ethical commitment under the darkest and most difficult circumstances have made him a true hero.”

Gargash also stressed that, rather than oversimplifying what happened or accepting and promoting conspiracy theories, vigilance and preparedness are essential to confront the threats posed by extremism and terrorism.
