The Sharjah Misdemeanor Court has convicted three individuals for operating an unauthorized network to sell Mounjaro injections through social media platforms. The medication is strictly regulated and cannot be sold without a valid prescription and legal permits.

Two of the defendants were found guilty of selling medicine without a license and engaging in illegal pharmaceutical activities, with each receiving a total fine of AED 10,000. The third defendant was fined AED 5,000 for conducting unauthorized financial transactions linked to the network.

The court also ordered the confiscation of the seized injections and all proceeds derived from the illegal operations.

The investigation was launched after police identified a social media account promoting Mounjaro injections for sale. Officers tracked the account and apprehended two suspects involved in the sales. Further inquiries led to the identification of a third individual responsible for managing the financial transfers associated with the transactions.

Although all three defendants denied the charges during the trial, the court ruled that the evidence presented was sufficient to prove the violations, leading to the fines and confiscation orders.

Mounjaro is a prescription-only injectable medication primarily used to treat diabetes, though demand has surged recently for its off-label use in weight loss. UAE authorities have issued multiple warnings against purchasing injectable medications from social media accounts or unlicensed sources, as the authenticity, storage conditions, and dosage of such products cannot be guaranteed.
