Sharjah Police have released a video of a severe accident to warn motorists about the dangers of sudden lane changes and attempting to reach exits at the last second.

Traffic surveillance footage shows a silver sedan traveling in the far-left lane of a multi-lane road suddenly crossing several lanes to reach an exit. This maneuver forced the driver of a white SUV to swerve sharply to avoid a direct collision.

Following the sudden maneuver, the SUV driver lost control of the vehicle, which struck the road shoulder and spun across the lanes before coming to a halt. The impact of the incident also caused the sedan to veer into another section of the road.

Sharjah Police stated that the incident demonstrates how dangerous lane changes, even without direct contact between vehicles, can lead to multi-vehicle pile-ups and severe consequences for innocent motorists.

Police authorities urged drivers to check the position of surrounding vehicles, use indicators, and only merge into another lane when there is a safe distance.

The police also emphasized that drivers who miss their exit or intended route should continue driving and turn back at the next available opportunity, as sudden maneuvers to reach an exit can endanger the lives of passengers and other road users.

The release of this video is part of Sharjah Police's awareness initiatives to combat reckless driving and utilize smart traffic monitoring systems to enhance road safety.
