The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has invited contractors to submit expressions of interest for the development of the Al Nahda Interchange and Al Ittihad Road (E11) project.

The road project aims to improve traffic flow between Sharjah and Dubai. According to the ministry, it will also help upgrade road safety standards, increase intersection efficiency, and support sustainable development.

In a post on X, the ministry stated: "Experienced and qualified contracting companies are invited to express interest in participating in the project to develop and enhance the efficiency of the Al Nahda Interchange and Al Ittihad Road, E11."

Applications will be reviewed and evaluated based on the ministry's approved criteria for contractor qualification.

The UAE spends billions of dirhams annually on developing and upgrading infrastructure across the country, with a specific focus on roads, bridges, dams, and other infrastructure projects.

Upgrading Sharjah's road network

The Sharjah government recently announced major infrastructure changes, particularly on roads connecting the emirate to Dubai. The AED 750 million project includes the construction and development of internal and main roads between the two emirates, including the Al Taawun Tunnel and Al Noor Road.

This route is one of the busiest areas in the country, as many corridors between Sharjah and Dubai face heavy traffic. The project aims to improve traffic flow and mobility, increase intersection efficiency, and support the federal road network. The ministry added that the project will also contribute to sustainable development.

According to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, the project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The project is being implemented by Mubadara (the Initiatives Implementation Authority) and the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA), in cooperation with several government entities, including Sharjah Police, Sharjah City Municipality, and SEWA.
