Following the launch of the UAE’s first passenger train earlier this week, which was met with widespread enthusiasm, residents have shown significant interest in traveling with Etihad Rail.

With more than 10,000 tickets sold even before the official start of services, Etihad Rail has outlined its ticket pricing policy in the Passenger Charter on its website. According to the charter, children and senior citizens are eligible for discounted rates.

Standard rates apply to adults aged between 18 and 59. Currently, adult tickets are being sold with a special 50 percent launch discount. Comfort Class tickets start from AED 55, while Premium Class tickets start from AED 120.

For children under the age of 17, a 50 percent discount on the standard ticket price will be applied. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Infants under the age of two can travel for free if they sit on the lap of an accompanying adult. If an adult wishes to have a separate seat for an infant, a Child Ticket must be purchased.

Individuals over the age of 60 will also travel at discounted rates on Etihad Rail, paying 20 percent less than the standard ticket price. However, authorities may request valid identification to verify age.

Ticket Cancellation and Refunds

If a passenger wishes to cancel their ticket, they can do so through the Etihad Rail app or the official website under the My Bookings section. It is also possible to contact the call center or use a ticket vending machine at any Etihad Rail station to cancel a ticket.

Refunds upon cancellation are based on the ticket type as follows:

Saver Ticket: Non-refundable.

Value Ticket: Non-refundable.

Flex Ticket: A full refund is provided if canceled more than 24 hours before departure. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before departure are subject to a 30 percent cancellation fee. No refund will be issued in the event of a no-show.

Ticket Changes

If a passenger wishes to change their ticket, they can use the app, website, ticket vending machine, or call center.

Passengers cannot change the travel route, including the departure or destination stations, regardless of the ticket type.

The type of changes a passenger can make to their ticket depends on the class of ticket purchased:

Saver Ticket: No changes are permitted.

Value Ticket: Unlimited changes to the date and time are allowed free of charge up to 72 hours before the scheduled departure time, provided any difference in fare is paid. Subsequent changes will incur a fee of AED 20, plus any fare difference.

Flex Ticket: Unlimited changes to the date and time are permitted before the scheduled departure time and up to 30 minutes after, subject to paying any potential fare difference. Route changes are not permitted for any ticket type.

Once a change is confirmed, a new ticket will be issued, and the original ticket will no longer be valid.
