An Abu Dhabi resident has offered a Dh30,000 reward for the return of his pet dog, which went missing in the Al Nahyan area, and has appealed to the public for help.

The dog, named Jiko, is around three years old, according to his owner. Jiko left the family home on August 25, and they have been searching for him ever since.

Jiko’s owner said the dog is not merely a pet but a member of the family, prompting him to offer a substantial reward for his safe return. He urged anyone who spots the dog or has information about his whereabouts to contact the family.

Jiko’s family said they have continued searching across several areas, using social media, local community groups and public assistance. They hope that widely sharing the appeal will generate information about the dog’s movements or where he may be being kept.

In recent years, several cases of missing pets in the UAE have led to community-led search campaigns. Animal welfare advocates routinely advise pet owners to use collars carrying contact details, identification microchips and registered documentation to increase the chances of lost animals being reunited with their families.

Jiko’s owner stressed that his main goal is to bring the dog home, and that the reward is intended solely to encourage people to help find him.
