An Indian woman in Sharjah died after losing consciousness at her home. The 32-year-old mother of two was “completely healthy” and had shown no signs of illness, according to her husband.

Afina Basheer and her husband, Yasser, had lived in Sharjah for more than four years with their two young children, aged three and a half and one and a half. The family is from the Indian state of Kerala.

“She was at home when it happened,” Yasser said. “Preliminary reports indicate that she lost consciousness and died. We still do not know the exact cause.”

Afina was a dentist, but her husband said she had taken a break from work after giving birth to stay home and care for their children.

“She wanted to be with the children, especially because they are still very young,” Yasser said. “My sister is here now and is taking care of them.”

The family had returned from their summer holiday less than a month earlier. “We went to India for the summer holiday and returned on August 19,” Yasser said.

He added that the family was awaiting the completion of official procedures to repatriate Afina’s body to their hometown in Malappuram, Kerala.

“Her parents and two sisters are in India, so we are taking her body home,” Yasser said.

The incident is among several recent cases involving the sudden deaths of young, apparently healthy people in the UAE.

Earlier this year, two Indian residents of the UAE lost consciousness and died while exercising in Dubai. One was a 42-year-old man from Kerala who collapsed while playing badminton. The other was a 38-year-old Dubai resident and prominent cricket figure.

Doctors in the UAE have previously said that undetected congenital heart defects could be among the causes of such incidents. In many cases, people are unaware of underlying cardiovascular conditions until a serious medical emergency occurs.

Medical experts have repeatedly urged residents to undergo regular health checks, particularly cardiac screenings, even if they feel completely healthy. They say early detection can, in some cases, play a crucial role in saving lives.

Last year, two teenagers in Dubai also died after suddenly losing consciousness.
