A gas cylinder explosion at a car showroom on Dubai's Sheikh Zayed Road has left one person dead and five others injured.

The incident occurred on Monday, August 3. Civil Defense forces, paramedics, and specialized teams were immediately dispatched to the scene, providing initial medical treatment to the victims.

Dubai Civil Defense announced that the fire and the aftermath of the explosion were contained within less than an hour, and the site was secured. The injured individuals were handed over to medical teams for necessary care.

At the time of reporting, no information regarding the identity, age, or nationality of the deceased or the injured had been released. Details concerning the cause of the explosion and the results of the preliminary investigation are expected to be announced following the completion of technical assessments.

Authorities have urged the public to follow news related to the incident only through official sources and to refrain from spreading rumors or unverified information.

The incident has once again raised concerns regarding the safe storage and use of gas cylinders, particularly during the UAE's hot season. Experts have previously warned that exposing cylinders to extreme heat, improper storage, faulty equipment, or refilling them at unauthorized centers can endanger lives and property.

Dubai Police have seized 300 substandard gas cylinders since the beginning of 2026. This figure stood at 575 and 1,361 cylinders in 2025 and 2024, respectively. Authorities have called on residents and business owners to procure gas cylinders only from licensed companies and suppliers.
