Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, responded to a message from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum published in the book “Letters”, reaffirming his commitment to serving Dubai and the UAE.

“Letters” is the second part of Sheikh Mohammed’s “Lessons from Life” series. In his response, Sheikh Ahmed described Sheikh Mohammed as his “brother, leader and companion on the journey”, saying he viewed his words as a responsibility he would carry forward in his continued service to Dubai and its people.

Reflecting on their many years of working together, he said the journey had involved numerous challenges and demonstrated that determination can turn dreams into reality, particularly when the nation’s interests are prioritised and people remain at the heart of every endeavour.

Sheikh Ahmed also pledged to remain loyal to Dubai and the UAE, placing the interests of the nation and its people above all else.

Sheikh Mohammed’s Message: The Nation Is a Responsibility and Life Is a Message

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s message, titled “A Letter to My Brother Ahmed bin Saeed”, focuses on legacy, responsibility and passing experience on to future generations.

In the letter, he wrote that every person’s life forms part of the story of their nation, and that the true value of a life depends on the impact it leaves for future generations. He said responsibility is not only about building projects for people, but also about instilling in them the values and capabilities that will make the path easier for generations to come.

Sheikh Mohammed said the messages were drawn from nearly six decades of public service, as well as the experiences, decisions, challenges and projects he encountered over those years.

He stressed that human life is finite, but ideas, values and achievements can endure and be passed on to future generations.

Sheikh Mohammed also wrote that the letters were intended for the people of the UAE, his family, his team, his companions on the journey, and anyone around the world who considers the UAE’s experience worthy of reflection. He concluded: “The nation is a responsibility, and life is a message.”
