Red Fog Alert Issued in UAE as Rain and Lower Temperatures Forecast
The UAE is forecast to experience clear to partly cloudy conditions today, Wednesday, September 30.
Clouds may form over eastern areas in the afternoon, with some potentially becoming convective. Convective clouds are usually associated with rainfall.
Fog covered parts of the country on Wednesday morning, prompting the UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology to issue red and yellow alerts. The warnings, in effect until 9am, caution against reduced horizontal visibility. Motorists have been urged to take extra care during their morning commute.
Temperatures are expected to reach 39°C in Abu Dhabi, 40°C in Dubai and 42°C in Sharjah.
Minimum temperatures are also generally declining, coinciding with the official start of autumn in the UAE. Lows of 28°C in Abu Dhabi and 25°C in Sharjah are forecast, while temperatures in Dubai are expected to fall to 20°C.
Humidity is expected to increase overnight and on Wednesday morning in some coastal and inland areas. Light to moderate winds are also forecast.
The Sea of Oman may be rough on Wednesday morning.
