UAE weather: Red fog alert issued as Abu Dhabi temperatures hit 39°C
The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said residents can expect fair to partly cloudy skies on Sunday, September 27, with increased cloud cover possible over eastern areas.
According to the NCM, the clouds may become convective in the afternoon, bringing a chance of rainfall to some areas.
Hot conditions are expected across most of the country, with temperatures reaching up to 43°C in some areas. Highs of 39°C in Abu Dhabi and 38°C in Dubai are forecast, while temperatures in both emirates are expected to fall to 29°C.
The NCM also issued a red fog alert from 11pm on Saturday until 10am today.
Humidity is expected to increase overnight and on Monday morning in some coastal and inland areas, with a chance of fog or mist forming.
Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds are forecast at speeds of 10 to 20km/h, occasionally reaching 30km/h.
Sea conditions are also expected to remain calm.
With autumn officially beginning in the UAE on September 23, the country has entered a period in which temperatures are expected to gradually decline. However, humidity typically rises during the first half of the season, increasing the likelihood of fog forming in the early morning.
