Abdolmahdi Asadi, a member of the Iran Chamber of Commerce’s board of representatives and the Iran Mobile Association, told ILNA that the suspension of flights from Oman to Iran has disrupted the air route used to transport mobile phones from Dubai into the country.

According to Asadi, more than 90 per cent of Iran’s mobile phone demand is met through air freight, and the recent suspension of flights from Oman to Iran has created supply challenges. “More than 90 per cent of the mobile phones needed in the country are imported by air, but we have faced difficulties importing goods because flights from Oman to Iran have been suspended.”

He explained that along one of the supply routes, mobile phones were first transported from Dubai to Oman and then flown from Oman to Iran. That route has now been disrupted. “Mobile phones entered the country through Oman, travelling from Dubai to Oman and then from Oman to Iran. Unfortunately, flights from Oman have been suspended for about a week, and we are now facing challenges in the international transportation of mobile phones.”

Asadi added that some companies had imported shipments before the suspension of flights from Oman, meaning the market has not experienced supply shortages during this period.
