UAE Issues Red Weather Alert for Fog; Rain and Strong Winds Expected
The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology said rainfall may continue in parts of the country today, Wednesday, October 28.
According to the centre’s forecast, convective clouds, which are usually associated with rainfall, are expected to form over northern and eastern parts of the UAE. Elsewhere, skies will be clear to partly cloudy.
Humidity is also expected to increase overnight and on Thursday morning, particularly in western coastal and inland areas, creating conditions for fog and mist.
The National Centre of Meteorology has issued red and yellow alerts over possible fog and reduced horizontal visibility. Visibility could fall significantly in some areas.
Temperatures are forecast to reach highs of 35°C in Abu Dhabi and 36°C in Dubai and Sharjah. Lows are expected to fall to 26°C in Abu Dhabi, 27°C in Dubai and 24°C in Sharjah.
Light to moderate south-easterly to north-easterly winds are forecast, strengthening at times to reach speeds of up to 50 kilometres per hour. The winds could stir up dust and reduce visibility in some areas.
The sea is expected to be calm, with slight waves.
