Abu Dhabi Mobility, part of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, has announced new regulations governing car-washing services in public parking spaces and residential villa areas covered by the Mawaqif parking system.

According to the authority, washing vehicles in public parking spaces covered by Mawaqif is prohibited, and such services may be provided only at authorised and approved locations.

The regulations aim to regulate the use of public parking spaces, curb unauthorised activities, preserve the city’s appearance and cleanliness, and ensure that car-washing services are provided at approved locations.

Service companies may continue washing vehicles at authorised locations, provided they obtain the required approval from Abu Dhabi Mobility before starting operations and comply with all stipulated requirements and guidelines.

The authority said monitoring and inspection activities would continue in coordination with Q Mobility and other relevant entities to identify violations, with appropriate legal action to be taken against offenders.

Abu Dhabi Mobility also urged vehicle owners not to entrust their vehicles to unlicensed car washers and to use only licensed companies operating at approved locations.

The announcement did not provide details of any potential fines for breaching the regulations.
