Porsche plans to showcase one of the rarest versions of its 911 Turbo S in Dubai this November. Designed exclusively for the Kuwaiti market, the special model draws inspiration from the country’s traditional weaving art and celebrates Porsche’s 70-year presence in Kuwait.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S Sadu Edition will be displayed on November 21 and 22 at the sixth Icons of Porsche event at The Square in Nad Al Sheba, Dubai.

It will be the car’s first public appearance outside Kuwait.

Only 20 units of the special edition have been produced, all exclusively allocated to the Kuwaiti market.

The model combines the performance and advanced engineering of the Porsche 911 Turbo S with design elements inspired by one of Kuwait’s most recognisable cultural traditions.

Porsche design inspired by traditional Kuwaiti art

The Porsche 911 Turbo S Sadu Edition was unveiled earlier this year at the Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Cultural Centre in Kuwait, marking a milestone in the German carmaker’s history in one of the Middle East’s key markets.

To celebrate its 70-year presence in Kuwait, Porsche went beyond simply adding a commemorative badge or special plaque, drawing on the traditional art of Al Sadu for the car’s design.

Al Sadu is a traditional form of wool weaving rooted in Kuwait’s Bedouin cultural heritage.

Its distinctive geometric patterns, contrasting colours and repeated horizontal bands have been reinterpreted in the car’s contemporary design.

For generations, Al Sadu has served as a means of expressing identity, telling stories and preserving collective memories through handwoven textiles.

Its cultural significance was recognised in 2020 when traditional Al Sadu weaving was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Porsche collaborates with AlSadu Society

The project was developed through a collaboration between Porsche Middle East and Africa, Porsche Centre Kuwait and the AlSadu Society, which works to preserve and promote Kuwait’s traditional textile heritage.

Initial discussions about creating an Al Sadu-inspired Porsche began in January 2022.

The proposal was presented to Porsche Centre Kuwait in March 2023. The AlSadu Society later joined the project to provide cultural advice and guidance on traditional weaving techniques and design patterns.

The collaboration aimed to create a car that showcased Kuwait’s cultural heritage while meeting Porsche’s standards for bespoke vehicle design and production.

The edition was developed through Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the brand’s vehicle personalisation programme.

Special Porsche Showcased at Kuwait’s Historic Landmarks

The Sadu Edition is part of Porsche’s broader programme linking the brand’s 70th anniversary in Kuwait with the country’s cultural identity.

Following its unveiling, the car was displayed at locations across Kuwait, visiting prominent landmarks including the historic Behbehani House complex, Souq Al-Mubarakiya and Bait Al Arab, the Kuwait Arabian Horse Centre.

The initiative aims to highlight the connection between automotive design and Kuwait’s traditions, architecture and handicrafts.

The collaboration between Porsche Kuwait and the Al Sadu Society extends beyond the production of this special edition.

The two organisations are developing joint cultural programmes, including traditional weaving workshops at the Porsche showroom.

The workshops will give visitors an opportunity to learn more about Al Sadu weaving and its cultural significance.

The current collaboration follows an earlier partnership between Porsche Kuwait and the Al Sadu Society on a Porsche Taycan project in 2024, which laid the groundwork for programmes marking Porsche’s 70th anniversary in Kuwait.

Only 20 Cars for the Kuwait Market

For collectors of exclusive cars, the Porsche 911 Turbo S Sadu Edition offers a distinctive interpretation of one of the world’s most recognisable sports cars.

Production limited to 20 cars and exclusive availability in Kuwait set this model apart from many other Porsche special editions.

Its appearance at the Icons of Porsche event in Dubai will offer enthusiasts outside Kuwait their first opportunity to see this rare edition up close.

The car combines Porsche’s seven-decade presence in Kuwait with a far older cultural tradition, making Kuwait’s heritage a central part of the identity of a bespoke sports car.

Icons of Porsche will take place on November 21 and 22 at The Square in Nad Al Sheba, Dubai, with the Porsche 911 Turbo S Sadu Edition among the special cars on display.
