Toyota and Lexus Vehicles Recalled in UAE Over Software Defect
Al-Futtaim Motors, in coordination with the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism, has issued two recalls covering a total of 892 Toyota and Lexus vehicles in the UAE. The recalls affect the Lexus NX, Toyota Crown and Toyota bZ4X.
The first recall covers around 417 Lexus NX vehicles manufactured between 2021 and 2023. The second involves 475 Toyota Crown and bZ4X vehicles. The affected Crown models were manufactured between 2022 and 2024, while the bZ4X models were produced between 2021 and 2023. All affected vehicles were manufactured in Japan.
The recalls were issued to update the forward-recognition camera software. According to the notice, in rare cases, a software fault may disrupt the camera’s memory when the vehicle is switched off. As a result, the pre-collision system may not activate when the vehicle is restarted, and warning lights, alert messages or audible warnings may be triggered.
The same software fault has been detailed in official Toyota and Lexus recalls in other regional markets. The companies said the issue can be resolved by reprogramming the forward-recognition camera.
Al-Futtaim Motors said vehicle inspections and software updates will be carried out free of charge. The company will contact owners of affected vehicles directly to schedule appointments for the required work.
