Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) announced on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, that its gas production had more than doubled following the completion of the first phase of development at the Hadiba gas and condensate field, a milestone expected to significantly strengthen Sharjah’s long-term energy security.

The Hadiba field, discovered in May 2024 northeast of the Sajaa gas field, moved from discovery to initial production in less than a year. The first phase of its development has now been completed.

Khamis Al Mazrouei, CEO of Sharjah National Oil Corporation, highlighted the significance of the milestone, saying: “The completion of the first development phase and the start of production from the Hadiba field demonstrate our ability to move rapidly from discovery to production while helping meet Sharjah’s growing energy needs.”

Hadiba: Sharjah’s fifth onshore gas field

Hadiba is Sharjah’s fifth onshore gas and condensate field, joining the Sajaa, Kahaif, Mahani and Muayed fields.

In May 2024, the Sharjah Petroleum Council announced the discovery of new gas reserves at the field, saying commercially promising volumes had been identified after Sharjah National Oil Corporation drilled a well.

In November 2025, Sharjah National Oil Corporation announced the discovery of additional gas reservoirs at the field. The discovery followed the successful drilling and testing of a second well, known as Hadiba-02, north of the Sajaa field.

The well, part of the Hadiba gas field appraisal and development programme, was drilled to a depth of 13,200 feet.

First development phase completed despite equipment supply challenges

Sharjah National Oil Corporation said it completed the field’s complex development work within a short timeframe despite significant transportation, logistics and equipment supply challenges, including disruptions to regional maritime shipping and constraints on the availability of required materials.

Al Mazrouei said: “Sharjah National Oil Corporation achieved first gas production less than a year after the field’s discovery and has now completed all the key objectives of the first development phase.”

He said the work included drilling appraisal wells, conducting well studies and evaluations, building gas-gathering infrastructure, installing pipelines and carrying out commissioning operations.

Al Mazrouei added: “Hadiba is one of Sharjah’s most important gas development projects in recent years and a key pillar of Sharjah National Oil Corporation’s long-term growth strategy.”

Gas reservoir quality and field production performance confirmed

Masoud Al Hamadi, Executive Director of Upstream at Sharjah National Oil Corporation, said studies and assessments conducted at the Hadiba field had confirmed the strong quality of its gas reservoirs, favourable reservoir pressure characteristics and promising production performance across different parts of the field.

The results indicate favourable reservoir conditions for continued development and higher production during subsequent phases.

Production to increase in 2027 and stabilise by 2028

Sharjah National Oil Corporation said preparations had begun for the next phase of the Hadiba field’s development, with work to increase gas production set to accelerate in 2027.

Under the announced plan, the Hadiba field is expected to reach a stable production rate by 2028 and make a significant contribution towards meeting future energy needs across Sharjah.

The development of the Hadiba field is a central part of Sharjah National Oil Corporation’s long-term strategy to increase gas production, strengthen energy security and meet the emirate’s growing energy demand.
