Want to Know What Your Gold Is Worth? New At-Home Valuation Service in the UAE
An old ring left in a drawer for years or an inherited bangle may leave its owner wondering how much it is worth today. A newly launched UAE start-up has introduced a service that allows residents to have their gold valued at home without visiting a jewellery shop.
SellYourGold.ae offers free at-home gold valuations across the UAE, with no minimum quantity required. Customers are also under no obligation to sell their gold after the assessment.
According to the company, if a customer accepts the final offer, payment is made immediately at the location, either in cash or by bank transfer.
Co-founders Rishi Vaya and Josh Vaya said the idea was inspired by their family’s experience in the UAE gold and jewellery industry, with the aim of making the gold-selling process simpler and more transparent.
“SellYourGold.ae was built on a simple idea: to bring a professional and transparent gold-buying service directly to people’s homes, allowing them to sell their gold comfortably and on their own terms,” they said.
The company operates with the backing of Al Fujairah Jewellers LLC, which the business says has been active in the UAE gold and jewellery industry since 1978.
🟡 How does an at-home gold valuation work?
Customers can contact the company through WhatsApp or its website and receive an initial quote before booking a visit. The final price is determined after the gold is weighed and tested in the customer’s presence.
A buyer visits the customer’s location with scales and a portable gold-testing device. The entire valuation process is conducted in front of the customer. The company says its equipment is certified and regularly tested and inspected.
“The customer can see all the device readings and calculations in real time. If they are satisfied with the final offer, we pay immediately in cash or by bank transfer. Most visits are completed in under 30 minutes,” the founders said.
The service buys various forms of gold, including old jewellery, chains and gold coins. Customers may submit a single item or a larger collection for valuation.
🟡 How is the offer calculated?
According to the company’s founders, the live global gold price serves as the starting point for calculating an item’s value. Each piece is weighed and tested separately to determine its exact purity, after which an offer is calculated based on the results.
The company also deducts a percentage from the calculated value as a buying margin, which management says is clearly explained before the customer agrees to sell.
However, the founders have not disclosed the exact amount of the deduction.
“The buying deduction is clearly explained to the customer before any agreement is made,” they said.
This means the initial quote provided before the visit is not the final amount payable. The final price depends on the test results, the gold’s purity and the deduction applied by the company.
🟡 What if the customer decides not to sell?
According to the founders of SellYourGold.ae, customers may ask questions about the valuation process, take more time to consider the offer or ultimately decide not to sell.
“Our buyers are trained professionals with years of experience in the gold industry. They take the time to explain exactly how the valuation is calculated, answer every question and never pressure customers into making a decision,” they said.
Customers must present an Emirates ID to complete a transaction, and the company says it issues an official invoice for every sale.
🟡 Plans to open first Dubai branch
In addition to its home-visit service, SellYourGold.ae plans to open its first physical store in Dubai and eventually develop a network of branches across the UAE.
However, the founders have not yet announced the store’s exact location or opening date.
“A physical presence matters. It builds trust, strengthens customer relationships and shows that we intend to remain in this market for the long term,” they said.
The founders said their priority during the first year of operations is to earn customers’ trust and establish a strong foundation for the business’s growth.
“We want to build a business that will still be operating 100 years from now,” they added.
