Emaar chief: Taco Bell returns to UAE after 14 years!
Americana Restaurants has announced that Taco Bell will return to the UAE after 14 years under a partnership between Americana and Taco Bell UK and Europe Ltd.
The two companies plan to expand Taco Bell across the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in phases, beginning in the UAE before moving into other regional markets.
Taco Bell previously operated several outlets in the UAE, including in Dubai, but exited the market in 2012.
Since then, demand for Mexican-inspired flavours has grown in the UAE, with brands such as Chipotle also entering the market.
This time, Taco Bell’s return is backed by Americana Restaurants, which has a strong track record of managing and expanding brands such as KFC and Pizza Hut in the UAE and across the region.
🟠 “We start here and get it right”
The decision to select the UAE as the starting point for Taco Bell’s regional expansion may reflect the brand’s target market and identity.
Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Americana Restaurants, said: “Taco Bell is one of the most exciting brands in its category, built for a generation that wants great taste, good value and a little boldness.”
He added: “Young people in our region are curious and adventurous, and brands must continue to surprise them. Dubai welcomes bold ideas and takes them to the world. We start here, get it right, and then expand Taco Bell across the UAE and the wider region.”
Taco Bell currently operates more than 9,000 restaurants worldwide, including over 1,200 outside the United States.
Sean Tresvant, CEO of Taco Bell, said: “Over more than 64 years, Taco Bell has built a brand that consumers love—bold, distinctive and culturally relevant.”
He added: “We are incredibly excited to continue our strong international expansion in the UAE. We want to connect with a new generation of fans and bring Taco Bell’s creativity, innovation and unique experience to this market.”
The locations and exact opening dates have yet to be announced, but Alabbar’s comments suggest the first outlet is likely to open in Dubai.
