The highly anticipated Wynn Al Marjan Island is set to be one of the most significant hotel openings of 2027 in the UAE, and an exciting new element has now been added to its offerings.

As part of the resort’s specialized entertainment program, Wynn Al Marjan Island will host Punchdrunk, the internationally award-winning immersive theater company. The British theater group is renowned for its modern, immersive performances, with shows currently running in global hubs from Shanghai to New York.

For its first appearance in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Punchdrunk will bring an entirely original production to Wynn Al Marjan Island, promising a completely different and unique experience for the UAE.

The production will be designed and directed by Felix Barrett MBE, the founder of Punchdrunk and the creative mind behind Sleep No More, which ran for 14 years in New York with over 5,000 performances.

The concept will blend song and dance, but its unique feature lies in offering two distinct experiences within a single show. Audiences can choose to sit in a traditional theater setting on the upper level to watch the full performance, or opt for the immersive path on the lower level, where they can move freely through backstage worlds and hidden spaces as the narrative unfolds around them.

The theater itself is designed as part of the experience, evoking the Golden Age of Hollywood with Art Deco influences, luxurious fabrics, and grand spaces.

When will it open? Punchdrunk is set to debut alongside the opening of the UAE’s first casino resort in 2027. While the project was initially scheduled for a spring opening, Wynn CEO Craig S. Billings stated last month that the mega-project might face a limited delay due to regional conflicts.

During an earnings conference call, Billings said: "We expect a limited delay in the opening timeline, and I think we will be able to quantify that in the coming months."
