Wynn Al Marjan Island Opening in Ras Al Khaimah Rescheduled to September 2027

The opening of the Wynn Al Marjan Island resort in Ras Al Khaimah has been moved to September 2027, a multi-billion dollar project that was previously scheduled to launch in the first quarter of that year.

Craig Billings, CEO of Wynn Resorts, stated during the company’s second-quarter financial results meeting that disruptions caused by regional conflicts have impacted the global supply chain and the maritime insurance market. Consequently, certain equipment and materials must be sourced from alternative suppliers, transported via new routes, or expedited at a higher cost.

The movement of personnel and consultants, along with other unforeseen challenges, has also influenced the project's cost and timeline. Nevertheless, construction is progressing rapidly, with mechanical and electrical installations underway and interior work on hotel rooms having commenced. Pre-opening recruitment and operational planning for the resort are also moving forward.

Alongside the revised opening date, the total project budget has increased by approximately $600 million, equivalent to nearly AED 2.2 billion. According to the Wynn CEO, about half of this increase is attributed to the consequences of regional conflict, rising material and shipping prices, and costs associated with the extended construction period.

The remaining portion of the budget increase is attributed to revised estimates, coordination among contractors, and standard costs associated with a project of this scale and duration.

Wynn Resorts holds a 40% stake in the joint venture developing the resort. The company injected an additional $48.1 million into the project during the second quarter of 2026, bringing its total cash investment since the project's inception to $1.06 billion.

Despite the delay, the Wynn CEO reaffirmed the company’s confidence in the UAE market, stating that the resort remains one of the most significant leisure projects currently under construction worldwide.
