A Kenyan woman who was stranded in Dubai with her baby after traveling to the UAE to find work is preparing to return home with the support of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai.

The woman arrived in the UAE hoping to find employment and support her family, but a series of difficult circumstances left her unable to work or afford her return flight. She gave birth to her child during her stay in the UAE and, following the birth, found herself without a home, income, or the necessary travel documents.

The mother and her infant are currently staying at the Dubai Shelter Center, a facility under the GDRFA that supports individuals with expired visas or those in vulnerable situations.

At the center, they have been provided with temporary accommodation, food, medical care, clothing, and other daily necessities. Psychological counseling and social support services are also offered, while specialized teams coordinate with embassies to obtain emergency travel documents and arrange flight tickets.

Dubai authorities are working with Kenyan officials to complete the required documentation for the mother and child. The pair will remain at the center until their documents and travel arrangements are finalized.

Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, stated that many individuals at the center arrived in the UAE after trusting intermediaries and misleading job offers in their home countries. He noted that these individuals are not viewed merely as immigration cases, but as human beings who require support during one of the most difficult periods of their lives.

Each year, the Dubai Shelter Center assists thousands of people, including the unemployed, victims of recruitment scams, and overstayers, in resolving their legal issues and ensuring a safe return to their home countries.
