UAE Amnesty for Overstaying Residents Ends Today

The UAE's Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) has announced that the temporary amnesty for residency violations will end at 11:59 PM today, Tuesday, March 31, 2026, UAE time.

The temporary amnesty, which waived daily fines, benefited travelers and residents who had been present in the UAE since February 28 due to airspace restrictions. According to the new announcement, all individuals whose tourist visas, visit visas, or residency permits expired after February 28 must either leave the UAE or renew and legalize their visa status within the country before the deadline.

With the end of this temporary amnesty, the fine registration system will be reactivated from April 1, and the standard fine of AED 50 per day of overstay will be automatically calculated. Immigration officers at departure points will collect the total fine amount before allowing passengers to board their flights. Airlines have also been instructed to prevent passengers who have not settled their residency status from boarding.
