Two Dubai residents buy 76 iPhone 18s, with potential profit of up to Dh5,000 per phone
Two Dubai residents have spent around AED 550,000 on 76 iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max devices, hoping to make up to AED 5,000 profit on each phone by reselling them during the first days of the launch.
Rehan and Mohammed Shabeeb said they have been buying new iPhone models at launch for the past 14 years. They spent the night before order collections began in the Dubai Mall car park to ensure they reached the Apple Store early in the morning.
Rehan said that although they live near Dubai Mall, they were worried they might oversleep. They therefore arrived at the shopping centre the night before and headed to the store at around 6am.
The pair had reserved 36 devices for the first day of sales on Friday, September 18. They collected 14 from Dubai Mall and planned to pick up the remainder from the Apple Store at Mall of the Emirates. They also reserved another 40 devices for the following day.
Mohammed Shabeeb said the phones had been ordered for friends and other buyers, including customers in India.
Rehan and Mohammed said the total cost of the 76 devices was around AED 550,000. However, they expect strong demand during the first week of sales to allow them to resell the phones at higher prices, with profits reaching AED 5,000 per device in some cases.
