Dubai Municipality has opened registration for the 2026–2027 winter camping season in Al Ruwayyah. Capacity in the area has increased by around 120% to 600 camping plots for the new season.

Dubai Municipality announced on Monday, October 26, that the winter camping season will run from November 1, 2026, to April 30, 2027. UAE citizens can register and reserve camping plots online.

In addition to standard 400-square-metre plots, larger plots of up to 800 square metres will be available for booking this season.

For the first time, 50 dedicated caravan sites and 10 fully equipped camps available for daily rental have also been allocated.

The equipped camps are suitable for those seeking a desert stay without having to set up and furnish their own camp.

Dedicated spaces for winter events and seasonal markets

As part of its development plan for Al Ruwayyah, Dubai Municipality aims to provide more facilities for family, community and recreational activities during the winter season.

To support this initiative, 10 dedicated spaces have been allocated for winter events, family gatherings, community programmes, recreational activities and seasonal markets.

Special investment opportunities have also been created for small and medium-sized enterprises, allowing local entrepreneurs to provide food and beverage services, desert activities and entertainment programmes for campers and visitors.

Bader Anwahi, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Municipality’s Public Facilities Agency, said the new season represents an important step in developing Al Ruwayyah as a comprehensive winter destination.

He added that enhancing the existing facilities would pave the way for more diverse experiences and stronger community connections in the years ahead.

How to register and reserve a camping plot

UAE citizens can register and reserve a camping plot through Dubai Municipality’s official website at wintercamp.dm.gov.ae or via the DubaiNow app.

Seasonal bookings are available for periods of three to six months. Caravan sites and fully equipped camps available for daily rental have separate booking options and are subject to the relevant terms and conditions.

Seasonal camping permit holders may design and equip their camps according to their needs after obtaining the required approvals and confirming the boundaries of their allocated plots.

However, compliance with approved regulations is mandatory. These include installing temporary fencing and using the camps solely for family and camping purposes.

Dubai Municipality has also allocated dedicated spaces for government entities participating in the initiative, allowing them to establish their own camps in the area.

Purpose of expanding facilities in Al Ruwayyah

According to Dubai Municipality officials, the expansion of winter camping facilities is part of a plan to transform Al Ruwayyah into a comprehensive destination for recreational and community activities during the winter season.

The initiative includes increasing camping capacity, creating new caravan sites, offering fully equipped camps for daily rental and providing business opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises.
