The UAE passenger rail project has entered a new phase with the unveiling of the first Etihad Rail station in Fujairah. The modern station features a bright design with large glass panels, cream and gray tones, and LED lighting, offering a first look at the future passenger experience.

His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, and Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Rail, visited the station on Tuesday before traveling by train from Fujairah to Al Bithnah. During the visit, they were briefed on the station's facilities, the progress of the rail network, and the operational stages of the passenger services.

A video released of the station shows a gold and black guide robot with a touchscreen welcoming guests and providing travel information. Ticket vending machines have also been installed at the station, allowing passengers to receive their tickets in printed or electronic formats. The tickets include travel details, departure and arrival times, and a QR code for platform access.

The Ruler of Fujairah emphasized that this station will create new opportunities for the emirate, including boosting trade, enhancing connectivity, supporting tourism, and improving the quality of life for residents and visitors.

Etihad Rail has announced that passenger services on the network will begin in phases starting in 2026. In the first phase, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Fujairah will be connected, and upon completion, the network will cover 11 major cities and regions across the UAE.

Travel by train from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah is estimated to take approximately 100 minutes, from Abu Dhabi to Al Ruwais 70 minutes, and from Dubai to Abu Dhabi 57 minutes. Each train has a capacity of 400 passengers and can travel at speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour.

The trains will feature business and economy classes, with dedicated space for passenger luggage. Platform access will be through automated gates, similar to the Dubai Metro.
