Sheikh Hamdan Announces Over AED 2 Billion Plan to Develop Dubai’s Urban Centres
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, announced that the council has approved the Urban Centres Development Plan, with a budget exceeding AED 2 billion through 2040.
The plan aims to create integrated urban communities, support sustainable growth, enhance quality of life and meet the future needs of Dubai residents.
According to Sheikh Hamdan, the plan is expected to increase property values in the targeted urban centres by approximately AED 20 billion by 2040.
The Urban Centres Development Plan focuses on three main pillars: quality of life, economic returns, and greater infrastructure efficiency and cost management.
Share of residents living near metro stations to rise to 74%
One of the plan’s objectives is to increase the proportion of Dubai’s population living near metro stations from 52% to 74%.
Public service coverage in the areas included in the plan is also set to increase from 74% to 85%.
These measures aim to improve residents’ access to public transport and municipal services while strengthening connectivity among Dubai’s urban centres.
Sustainable Population Planning Policy approved
The Dubai Executive Council also approved the Sustainable Population Planning Policy, which aligns population growth with Dubai’s economic and urban development plans.
Using population data and forecasts, the policy will identify future requirements for services, facilities and infrastructure, supporting plans to develop these sectors.
The policy aims to balance economic and population growth, improve infrastructure efficiency and maintain residents’ quality of life.
Digital Delegation System approved
The Dubai Executive Council also approved the launch of a Digital Delegation System for individuals and companies.
The system is designed to provide a seamless, secure and reliable experience when accessing government services. It will allow individuals and companies to authorise another person to complete government transactions on their behalf for certain low-risk services.
The fully digital system will use UAE PASS to enable delegations to be created, managed and activated without paper documents.
Dubai development projects to continue
Sheikh Hamdan said Dubai’s development and entrepreneurship projects would continue, with the programmes aimed at creating more opportunities, enhancing quality of life and securing a better future for generations to come.
He also said Dubai’s development would continue to focus on residents’ needs, expanding economic opportunities and preparing the city for future growth.
