The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation said around 200 social media accounts promoting unauthorised domestic worker recruitment and employment services were blocked in the first half of 2026.

The accounts were shut down in cooperation with the UAE Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority after they were found to be offering domestic worker services without the required licences or links to recruitment offices approved by the ministry.

The ministry said it uses electronic monitoring, tracking systems and artificial intelligence, alongside field inspections, to detect and address violations in the domestic worker services market.

The move comes as advertisements for domestic worker recruitment services continue to circulate widely on social media, potentially exposing families to offers from providers whose licensing status is unclear.

The ministry stressed that using licensed domestic worker recruitment offices gives employers access to official contracts, approved prices and packages, as well as a channel for submitting complaints or feedback to the ministry.

Licensed offices must also comply with regulations governing the recruitment and employment of domestic workers, while workers must meet the required legal and regulatory conditions.

The ministry urged families and employers to verify the source of social media advertisements for domestic worker services and ensure the provider is licensed before making any payment or proceeding with recruitment.

The ministry also said it would continue developing digital monitoring tools in cooperation with other relevant authorities to identify unlicensed activities more quickly and protect customers’ rights.
