The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has unveiled a smart inspection vehicle equipped with artificial intelligence and facial recognition technology to identify violators of residency and visa regulations.

Introduced at GITEX Global 2025, the vehicle is set to support field inspection teams across the UAE. The initiative aims to enhance the speed and accuracy of identifying wanted individuals and managing residency violations more securely.

The ICP inspection vehicle features six high-resolution cameras mounted around its exterior, covering a radius of up to 10 meters. These cameras capture facial images in real-time, while AI algorithms match facial features against the authority's database.

If an individual with a record or an active case is identified, an immediate alert is sent to officers inside the vehicle. Operational displays show results in real-time, allowing field personnel to make informed decisions without relying on traditional manual processes.

The vehicle is fully electric, offering a range of up to 680 kilometers on a single charge. Its equipment is designed to operate day and night and withstand the UAE’s challenging weather conditions, including extreme heat and dust storms.

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the ICP, stated that the project is designed to modernize field control methods, increase inspector efficiency, and accelerate responses to violations and emergencies through automated analysis.

At GITEX 2025, the ICP also presented three other smart initiatives: the comprehensive Smart Face Print system, an AI-powered call center capable of handling over 20,000 calls per day, and an integrated service package for domestic workers to issue, renew, or cancel residency and complete medical examinations through a single portal.
