UAE launches first AI-powered judicial platform
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department is expected to launch a fully integrated AI-powered judicial platform, the first of its kind globally for managing court operations.
The platform's capabilities include case analysis, legal research, retrieval of precedents and similar rulings, and the preparation of judicial documents. However, the final authority to issue judgments remains solely with judges, ensuring full human oversight is maintained.
AI Integration into Judicial Processes
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, said: "Innovation is the path to achieving a more efficient and faster judicial system."
Judges and judicial staff can use the platform to analyze cases and review legal documents.
Users will also have direct access to relevant laws and regulations.
AI tools can retrieve similar judicial precedents, prepare analytical reports, and assist in drafting legal memorandums. Court teams will also be able to process larger volumes of documents without the need for separate applications for each task.
The platform's architecture integrates a suite of capabilities that, in many judicial systems, are performed through separate research, administrative, or drafting tools.
UAE officials expect this integration to reduce litigation time and foster greater consistency and stability in judicial processes.
Judges will remain responsible for evaluating evidence, interpreting laws, and issuing rulings. AI outputs will serve only as decision-support tools within court processes.
