The footage serves as a warning against the dangers of entering a main road without ensuring the path is clear. In the video, an SUV is seen emerging from a side street and pulling directly onto the main road. A smaller vehicle traveling at high speed, caught off guard by the SUV's sudden entry, is unable to react in time and crashes directly into it.

The video is part of an ongoing awareness campaign by Sharjah Police, utilizing real-life surveillance footage to highlight the consequences of negligence at intersections and the failure to adhere to basic driving rules. The Sharjah Police Operations Center, a key component of the emirate’s Smart City infrastructure, monitors highways, roundabouts, and residential areas around the clock. These recordings are used as a primary tool for identifying traffic violations.

Sharjah Police, in a message accompanying the video, urged drivers to ensure the road is clear before entering or joining a main road, emphasizing that even a moment of distraction can deprive a driver of the chance to react and lead to a serious accident. The police statement noted that adhering to traffic laws, including coming to a complete stop at stop signs and ensuring the road is clear before entering, is essential for the safety of all road users.

The warning comes as Sharjah Police officials stated that poor decision-making when entering main roads and highways remains a leading cause of severe accidents, with impatience and failure to check traffic flow cited as primary factors in these preventable incidents. Under UAE law, entering a road unsafely results in a fine of AED 400 and four black points. Last month, Sharjah Police released a similar video highlighting the consequences of sudden swerving, a behavior that accounted for nearly one-sixth of road accidents in the UAE last year.
