Dubai Ruler, Crown Prince Offer Condolences Over Death of Police Chief
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, have paid tribute to Major General Khalifa bin Dhaen Abdullah Al Muhairi, a veteran Dubai Police commander, following his death, honouring his more than five decades of service.
Al Muhairi died on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. In a message posted on X on Thursday, October 22, Sheikh Mohammed described him as one of the nation’s loyal sons and a dedicated Dubai Police commander.
He said the late commander had devoted more than five decades of his life to serving the Al Maktoum family and the public, adding: “Dubai does not forget its men.”
The Ruler of Dubai also prayed for Al Muhairi’s soul and offered condolences to his family and loved ones.
Sheikh Hamdan said Al Muhairi was among the first young men to join Dubai Police after its establishment and held various positions and responsibilities over decades of service.
The Crown Prince of Dubai added that Al Muhairi continued to serve the community after his retirement by supporting charitable, educational and social initiatives.
Al Muhairi was born in Dubai’s Jumeirah district when the area consisted largely of simple homes built from palm fronds and tents. He began military service at the age of 14 and joined Dubai Police in 1956, aged 15, as one of its earliest officers.
According to Dubai Police, he began his career with personnel number 8 and held several posts during his service, including responsibility for Nad Al Sheba Police Station.
In addition to his policing career, the veteran commander was active in education and business. He founded Jumeira University in 2012 with the aim of advancing education and preserving cultural heritage.
Jumeira University issued a statement on Wednesday, October 21, mourning its founder and paying tribute to his contributions.
Al Muhairi was also the founder of Bin Dhaen Holding, whose early commercial activities date back to 1990 and later expanded into industry, contracting, education, real estate and services.
