Sharjah Ruler Covers University Tuition for Emirati Woman’s Daughter
His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved a scholarship for the daughter of an Emirati woman, Umm Maryam, enabling her to complete the remaining year and a half of her studies at the University of Sharjah.
The Emirati woman made her request during a conversation with Mohammed Khalaf, Director-General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, on the Direct Line programme.
Umm Maryam explained that she is married to a Kuwaiti citizen and that her daughter had received a scholarship to study at the University of Sharjah.
She said the scholarship was discontinued after her husband’s citizenship was revoked by his country, leaving her daughter at risk of having to abandon her studies.
Before the mother could finish explaining her situation, Khalaf announced Sheikh Sultan’s approval. The directive was issued immediately after the Ruler heard the family’s story.
