His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the settlement of debts totalling AED 22.71 million across 66 cases involving citizens of the emirate.

The initiative aims to support Sharjah citizens and ensure they enjoy a decent standard of living.

In September this year, the Ruler of Sharjah also ordered the settlement of debts in 82 cases worth AED 17,859,829. The decision was intended to ease financial pressures, address citizens’ outstanding obligations and support family stability.

The latest debt settlement is part of a series of measures introduced by Sharjah to strengthen financial and social support for citizens.

In January, Sheikh Sultan also approved an increase in monthly social assistance to AED 17,500 for 4,237 cases registered with the Sharjah Social Services Department. The programme’s annual cost was estimated at AED 404.9 million.

Beneficiaries included 3,126 senior citizens, 134 widows, 877 divorced women and 100 low-income individuals.

The January decision also covered 560 employment applications and 672 housing rental cases, as well as follow-ups on housing construction requests across Sharjah.

These measures form part of Sharjah’s support programmes aimed at addressing citizens’ financial needs and assisting families living in the emirate.
