Parts of the UAE experienced rainfall on Friday, July 3, providing residents with a welcome respite from the intense summer heat.

Videos shared by Storm Centre showed rain along the eastern coast and towards the mountains of Fujairah and Khor Fakkan. Dark, dense clouds covered the sky, signaling the potential for further showers. In another clip, the intensity of the rain gradually increased, with heavier downpours leading to reduced visibility.

This rainfall comes just weeks after similar weather conditions on June 14, when parts of the country, particularly the eastern regions, experienced rain. Videos released at that time showed rainfall in the mountainous areas of Khor Fakkan causing runoff and the formation of temporary waterfalls.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) had also predicted the possibility of continued rainfall in eastern regions following the showers on June 14. According to the center, weather conditions on some days were expected to be fair to partly cloudy, with a chance of convective cloud formation and rain in the east of the country. Additionally, an increase in humidity at night and the potential for fog formation in some coastal areas were forecast.

Summer rainfall in the eastern UAE, particularly in Fujairah and its surrounding mountainous areas, is not an unusual phenomenon, as the country is occasionally affected by monsoon low-pressure systems from India during this season.

However, the UAE occasionally experiences more severe weather events. One of the most notable instances occurred on March 25, when storms and heavy rainfall caused street flooding and traffic delays across several emirates. The Al Tawyeen area recorded the highest rainfall at 47.9 mm, followed by Al Marjan, Khor Fakkan, Khatm Al Shikla, and Khor Fakkan Port.

These storms caused damage in some areas, such as trees falling on vehicles, and Emirates Airline urged passengers to arrive at the airport early due to the adverse weather conditions.
