Sir Tim Clark, president of Emirates airline, said Dubai is on track to emerge stronger after overcoming current challenges and could become “a model for the world.”

“If we continue doing what we have done over the past four years, the world will become far more aware of what is happening here,” Clark said.

He added that he believes Dubai could become “a shining example of how to do things properly,” as its government pursues development with a transparent, direct and decisive approach.

Clark made the remarks on Tuesday at the Future Hospitality Summit World, where he received the FHS Lifetime Achievement Award for his role in transforming Emirates into a global brand.

After receiving the award, he said: “We never imagined that by 2015 we would have made the airline so global. Nor did we ever think we would have a fleet of this size.”

Emirates’ fleet includes Airbus A380s, Airbus A350s and Boeing 777s, and the airline operates one of the youngest fleets in the world.

Emirates’ deputy president also said earlier this month that the airline was operating at 93 per cent capacity, with 98 per cent of its flight network fully operational.
