Ugandan Delivery Rider in UAE Goes Viral for Reading Quran Between Orders
A video of a motorcycle delivery rider in the UAE reading the Quran beside his bike between orders has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention.
The rider, Mansour Katabalwa, is a Ugandan citizen who has lived and worked in the UAE for about two years. He has worked as a delivery rider for Talabat for the past five months. He said he came to the UAE to support his wife and two children, who remain in Uganda.
Mansour said reading the Quran during his breaks was not a new habit or prompted by the video going viral. He memorised the Quran three years ago following the deaths of his father, mother and brother, and has since made reviewing its verses part of his daily routine.
Mansour spends most of his day on the road delivering orders. He said he listens to Quran recitations while working and, whenever he has time between deliveries, opens the copy he carries with him to review the verses he has memorised.
He also said the practice helps him stay connected to his faith and honour the memory of his parents, for whom he prays while reciting.
The video turned a simple moment during a long working day into one of the most widely viewed clips on UAE social media.
Some social media reposts claimed the delivery rider was of a different nationality or had received a Dh50,000 reward. However, a direct report by Khaleej Times, which included an interview with Mansour, identified him as Ugandan and made no mention of any such reward.
