Cycle on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road: Free Registration, Bike Rentals from AED 19
The free Dubai Ride cycling event will take place on Sunday, November 1, 2026, coinciding with the launch of the 10th Dubai Fitness Challenge. Participants will be able to cycle along Sheikh Zayed Road and through Downtown Dubai.
The event features two routes: a 12km route along Sheikh Zayed Road and a family-friendly 4km route through Downtown Dubai, passing landmarks including the Museum of the Future, Dubai Water Canal, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera.
According to official information from Dubai Ride, participation is free, but advance registration is mandatory. Organisers will not provide bicycle rentals at the event, so participants without their own bicycles must arrange to buy or rent one in advance.
Dubai Ride date and location
The event will take place on Sunday, November 1, on Sheikh Zayed Road and in Downtown Dubai, with the cycling routes opening at 6:15am.
Participants are advised to arrive at the designated entrance for their route between 4am and 6am.
Where can bicycles be rented for Dubai Ride?
Several shops in Dubai offer road bikes, mountain bikes and children’s bicycles for rent.
Wolfi’s Bike Shop, which has operated in the UAE cycling sector since 2002, offers more than 100 rental bicycles across various categories, from children’s bikes to professional road and mountain bikes with full-carbon frames.
Rental rates start at AED 75 per hour. Customers can reserve their preferred bicycle online and collect it from the shop’s main Dubai branch or its Last Exit branch in Al Qudra. The company also has branches in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
Other retailers, including First Ride and Trek Bicycle, also offer rental services along the Al Qudra cycling route.
However, customers should check the rental terms before booking, as some shops only allow bicycles to be collected and returned in Al Qudra.
Given the event’s early start, participants are advised to collect their rental bicycles on Saturday, October 31.
Rent a Careem e-bike for AED 19
Another option for participants is Careem Bike’s shared e-bikes, operated in partnership with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The bicycles feature electric pedal assistance and are available from designated stations across the city.
To rent a bicycle, users must install the Careem app, select the Bike section, purchase their preferred package and scan the QR code at the station to unlock it.
A 45-minute Careem Bike ride costs AED 19. Daily, weekly and monthly packages are also available, and bicycles can be returned to any station within the network.
Electric pedal-assist bicycles are permitted on Dubai Ride routes, but e-scooters and other motorised vehicles are not allowed.
Buying a bicycle for long-term use
Those planning to continue cycling after the fitness challenge ends can buy their own bicycle instead of renting one.
Various retailers in Dubai offer road, hybrid and mountain bikes, including the BikeEra showroom on Umm Suqeim Street.
Special facilities for People of Determination
Dubai Ride organisers have arranged a dedicated entrance and support services for People of Determination using handcycles, tandem bicycles or specially adapted bicycles.
Further information about these facilities will be provided during registration.
Key Rules for Participating in Dubai Ride
All bicycles must be in good working order and suitable for road cycling.
Helmets are mandatory for all participants, including children riding in child seats or bicycle trailers. As some rental shops do not provide helmets with rented bicycles, participants should check before collecting their bikes.
Bicycles are also prohibited on the Dubai Metro. Participants bringing their own bicycles should therefore plan their journey to the starting point in advance.
When and Where to Collect Dubai Ride Bibs and T-Shirts
All registered participants must collect their cycling bib and T-shirt before the event. Participants will not be permitted to take part in Dubai Ride without a bib.
These items can be collected from the Dubai Municipality 30x30 Fitness Village at Zabeel Park, Entrance 2.
The collection schedule for bibs and T-shirts is as follows:
Thursday, October 29: 4pm to 11pm
Friday, October 30: 4pm to 11pm
Saturday, October 31: 8am to midnight
Those who have not yet registered for the event can do so through the official Dubai Fitness Challenge website.
According to official information from the organisers, the cycling routes will open at 6.15am. All participants must begin their ride by 7.30am, and the routes will remain open until 8am.
Dubai Ride is free to enter, but advance registration is required. Participants must also bring their bib, a roadworthy bicycle and a helmet. They should plan their journey in advance due to limited parking and the ban on bicycles on the Dubai Metro.
