Zelenskyy: UAE to Host Historic Trilateral Meeting Between Russia, US, and Ukraine
Ukraine, US, and Russia to Hold Trilateral Talks in Abu Dhabi
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has officially announced that delegations from Ukraine, the United States, and Russia will convene for a trilateral meeting in the United Arab Emirates. The talks, described as a significant step towards ending the war, are scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi over two days, on January 23rd and 24th, 2026.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Zelenskyy clarified that the negotiations will be held at a "technical level," with a primary focus on security issues and peace guarantees. "The American team, after meeting with Vladimir Putin in Moscow, is now heading to the Emirates, and my team will be there to meet with them. I think this will be the first trilateral meeting in the Emirates, and it will take place on Friday and Saturday (January 23rd and 24th)," he stated.
Reports indicate that the US delegation includes Steve Witkoff, Special Representative of Donald Trump, and Jared Kushner, who held lengthy and, according to the Kremlin, "constructive" talks with Putin in Moscow prior to their trip to Abu Dhabi.
On the Russian side, Yuri Ushakov, Foreign Policy Aide to the President of Russia, confirmed that the Russian delegation, headed by Igor Kostyukov, Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia (GRU), has been dispatched to Abu Dhabi to participate in the security working group. Kirill Dmitriev is also reportedly attending the meetings for discussions in the economic sector.
The selection of the United Arab Emirates as the host for these sensitive talks further underscores the country's position as a key mediator in international diplomacy and the resolution of global conflicts.
