His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, met Julia Klöckner, President of the Bundestag, during his state visit to Germany to discuss strengthening relations between the two countries, particularly parliamentary cooperation.

The meeting took place on September 10, 2026, at Berlin’s historic Reichstag building, the seat of Germany’s federal parliament. Upon arrival, the UAE President was welcomed by Klöckner and several members of parliament. Both sides described the visit as a reflection of the strength of UAE-Germany relations and their shared desire to further develop bilateral ties.

The talks also covered several issues of mutual interest in addition to parliamentary cooperation. Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the shared humanitarian values between the two countries and the importance of promoting peaceful coexistence and expanding cultural and intellectual exchanges between their peoples.

He said that since its founding, the UAE has sought to build bridges of communication and cooperation with countries around the world, adding that parliaments can play an important role in advancing these values and laying strong foundations for development, peace and stability. The UAE President also signed the Bundestag’s guest book and emphasised the importance of parliamentary cooperation as a key pillar of relations between the two countries and their peoples.

Sheikh Mohamed’s visit to Germany runs from September 9 to 11 and marks the first state visit by a UAE President to the country. During the visit, the two nations also announced the launch of a new strategic dialogue aimed at strengthening their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The mechanism will advance cooperation in areas including trade and investment, energy, emerging technologies, defence, transport, the environment, culture and education.

The two sides also welcomed a €40 billion UAE investment package in Germany and the signing of 29 memoranda of understanding and commercial agreements between companies from both countries, valued at more than €9.3 billion.
