Lufthansa Extends Tehran Flight Suspension

Lufthansa will suspend all flights to and from Tehran until March 29, 2026, a company spokesperson told Agence France-Presse.

The spokesperson also stated on Monday, January 19th, that Austrian Airlines, part of the Lufthansa Group, will not fly to Tehran until at least February 16th.

The airline also announced that, effective today, Tuesday, January 20th, it will use a "corridor in Iraqi airspace" for other flights in the region instead of flying through Iranian airspace, and will continue to "avoid Iranian airspace."

On Friday, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) advised all European airlines to avoid Iranian airspace following heightened tensions and the threat of US strikes.
