Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that 60 distinctive vehicle number plates will go under the hammer at its 121st in-person auction on October 24. The plates include rare two-digit numbers such as BB 80, BB 18 and CC 44.

The auction will be held at Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City and will feature two-, three-, four- and five-digit plates bearing the codes AA, BB, CC, H, U, V, W, X, Y and Z. According to the RTA, registration opens today, October 19.

Interested bidders can register through the RTA’s official website at www.rta.ae or by visiting its customer service centres in Umm Ramool, Deira and Al Barsha.

Participants must have a traffic file in Dubai and submit a security cheque for AED 25,000. The deposit will be refunded to unsuccessful bidders, while the AED 120 registration fee is non-refundable.

Admission at the auction venue will begin at 2pm on October 24. The RTA said there is no limit on the number of plates each person may purchase, provided buyers comply with all approved terms and conditions.

Payment deadline and plate purchase terms

Successful bidders must pay the full amount for their purchased plates within 10 working days of the auction. Late payment may result in the forfeiture of the security deposit and the bidder being placed on a list of violators.

A 5 per cent value-added tax will also be added to the final sale price of the plates.

The RTA said the auctions aim to meet customer demand for distinctive number plates and support Dubai’s market for sought-after plate numbers, which attracts both individual buyers and investors interested in unique combinations.
