Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will organise the second Road Safety Film Festival, inviting residents, university students, government entities and private companies to produce short films creatively promoting safe driving and compliance with traffic laws. Cash prizes and recognition awards are valued at up to AED 300,000.

Entries can be submitted through the RTA’s dedicated website from 24 August to 22 November 2026. The festival will feature three main categories: individuals and university students, government entities and private-sector companies, and the community. The inaugural competition received more than 100 entries in 2025.

The individuals and students category will include two subcategories: best road safety awareness film and best innovative road safety film using new technologies. In each subcategory, the first-place winner will receive AED 30,000, the runner-up AED 20,000 and the third-place winner AED 10,000.

The community category will also include two subcategories: best family film on road safety and films recounting the real-life experiences of road accident victims. Each will offer prizes of AED 30,000, AED 20,000 and AED 10,000 for the top three entries. A total of AED 240,000 will be awarded in cash, with the remainder of the overall prize value comprising recognition awards and non-cash prizes.

Two special recognition awards will also honour government entities and private companies for effective road safety initiatives, with the winners receiving trophies. This year’s festival is sponsored by Azizi Developments.

The RTA said the winning films will be used after the festival in educational presentations, workshops, road safety campaigns and across its digital platforms. The initiative aims to raise awareness of high-risk behaviours such as speeding, using mobile phones while driving and failing to wear seat belts.
