Sotheby’s opened its new gallery at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The inaugural exhibition brings together contemporary art, collectible watches, jewellery, luxury handbags and a historic Formula One car. Admission is free.

The opening of the gallery in Gate Village coincided with the 10th anniversary of Sotheby’s presence in the UAE.

Artworks and Rare Watches

Part of the exhibition is dedicated to works from the private collection of Dubai-based collector Elie Khouri. The display features works by artists including Amoako Boafo, George Condo, Stanley Whitney, Günther Förg and Alighiero Boetti.

Three Patek Philippe watches are also on display, including a platinum chronograph designed for left-handed wearers, a limited-production steel model and a timepiece created to mark the brand’s 175th anniversary.

Cartier Necklace and Hermès Handbag

The jewellery section features a 1939 Cartier necklace set with Burmese rubies and diamonds.

Sotheby’s has also introduced its bespoke jewellery design service using exceptional gemstones, including a 9-carat diamond known as the “Old Mine Golconda”.

The handbag section includes pieces by Hermès, among them the rare Birkin 30 Himalaya.

Historic Formula One Car Takes Centre Stage

One of the gallery’s highlights is a 1971 Surtees TS9B powered by a Ford-Cosworth V8 engine, which is being offered for private sale.

The car was driven by John Surtees and Mike Hailwood. Hailwood finished second at the 1972 Italian Grand Prix in a Team Surtees car.

The gallery also features a limited-edition Colnago bicycle created in collaboration with Ferrari to mark the carmaker’s 60th anniversary.
