Dubai Police have warned of the dangers of sudden lane changes after releasing footage of a collision between two vehicles. Motorists who endanger other road users by swerving suddenly face a AED 1,000 fine and four black points.

On Friday, October 30, Dubai Police released footage showing a white car colliding with a Toyota van, highlighting the dangerous consequences of sudden lane changes on busy roads.

In the video, the white car approaches a section where the road divides and suddenly attempts to cross several lanes to take the route on the left.

The manoeuvre causes the car to collide with a Toyota van travelling in the adjacent lane. The impact forces the van off the main road and onto a landscaped verge, while the white car continues driving.

Dubai Police warned that sudden lane changes, particularly crossing several lanes at once, leave other motorists with insufficient time to react and can result in serious accidents.

The authority urged motorists to remain within designated lanes, monitor surrounding traffic and ensure there is sufficient space to manoeuvre safely before changing lanes.

Under UAE traffic regulations, sudden swerving is considered a dangerous driving offence and is punishable by a AED 1,000 fine and four black points.

Dubai Police stressed that remaining within marked lanes and avoiding sudden lane changes play a key role in preventing accidents and protecting motorists and other road users.
