The CEO of Dubai Holding Entertainment has announced that a new water park will open in Dubai in the coming months as part of Dubai Parks and Resorts.

Fernando Eiroa, CEO of the company, said on Wednesday during the RISE Summit in Dubai that the water park had been designed to offer attractions specifically for the summer season and would be ready to open within the next two months.

Without revealing its name or further details, he said the new water-focused attraction would join the portfolio at Dubai Parks and Resorts.

Highlighting the role of the entertainment industry in Dubai’s tourism growth, Eiroa said the city had become a major leisure destination in addition to offering luxury hotels and a diverse range of tourism experiences.

Dubai’s Global Village surpasses Disney’s Magic Kingdom

The Dubai Holding Entertainment CEO also highlighted the success of Global Village, saying the destination now attracts nearly 50,000 visitors a day on average, surpassing Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Florida in average daily attendance.

He described the figure as a significant achievement for the UAE, saying that attracting so many visitors in a country far smaller than the United States was a remarkable success.

Dubai’s Global Village begins its 31st season today, Wednesday, October 14.

According to Eiroa, responding to visitors’ preferences and introducing new attractions each season are among the key factors behind the destination’s success.

He added that tourists’ expectations had changed in recent years, with visitors increasingly seeking interactive experiences and direct participation in entertainment activities.

He cited Real Madrid World at Dubai Parks and Resorts, the world’s first football theme park, where families can compete against one another in football challenges.

Dubai theme parks reopen after six-month closure

Dubai Parks and Resorts resumed operations last week after a six-month closure.

The destination’s CEO said maintenance work, the refurbishment of several attractions and the addition of new restaurants had been completed during the closure.

He said all the parks had now reopened and visitor response had been highly positive.

Fourteen new attractions have also recently opened at Riverland, including a go-karting track, bowling and Lamborghini driving simulators.
